Verses: Death & Douglas, Horror, Wednesday, Slasher
Born to a family with generations of morticians, Douglas is a teenage boy who lives with his family and staff in a funeral home. Due to their family’s history of caring for the dead, he not only dwells inside the establishment, but Douglas also helps out with tasks; such as cleaning caskets, arranging flowers, helping Eddie with embalming, passing out pamphlets, body removals, even helps Moss & Feaster in the graveyard sometimes after school where the two gravediggers would tell stories about supposed monsters which fascinated the kid. When having the chance, Doug would occassionally hang out in the graveyard with his best friend, Lowell, after school; they wouldn’t only roam around the gravesite’s grounds, but also wander inside occupied crypts of corpses. Because of his behaviours, people started calling Douglas “The boy that got death”. People expected him to know everything about the morbid process of afterlife. When he turned 12, the child had be introduced to countless murders. After he had learned that Mrs. Laurent’s death was not natural by his friend Lowell, who overheard that it was a murder from their police father (the victim was stabbed and had the letter “M” sketched into her skin), he begun spiraling with thoughts about unnatural deaths and their parents profitting from such incidents. Douglas does not appreciate unnatural deaths. If someone’s deceased was dealt by the hands of others, it did not sit right with him; It scared him.His best friend decided to that it was a good idea to create a group (himself, Douglas, and a girl named Audrey that Douglas liked) called the ‘Ghastlies’ for patrolling Cowlmouth at certain times of the week. Since all their parents worked for public services such as the police, hospital, and a funeral house, they had information to go on by eavesdropping on their families. On their first meetup, Douglas was chased by the murderer on his way back home. The murderer wore a long black cloak, posing as the grim reaper. The event caused him for the first time ever to have nightmares about his living situation. The murder of Mrs. Laurent started a series of other murders in the town of Cowlmouth; making the town live in fear of leaving their houses. The second, a teenage boy named Marvin, had an “S” carved on him. The third, a pumpkin at the local carnival had an “S” carved on it in the same writing; which was thought to be a warning of his next killing, but nothing happened. Then the fourth, Mr. Rivets, an “F”. The town started calling the serial killer as “Day Killer”, because the police and others that knew about it suspected he was sketching in the initial of the day the victims were killed. With all the murders happening, a neighbourhood group calling themselves the ‘Guardian Angels’, were actively stalking Douglas after the first murder victim’s funeral. They were calling him unwholesome because of his growing ups of being exposed and fascinated by death. After the last dead victim of the Day Killer was announced deceased, one of the members came to their father’s place of work to speak about Douglas’s environment, explaining that he needed to be either psychically evaluated, given less funeral work, or they’ll try taking the kid from their home. Mr. Mortimer retaliated by saying that Douglas gets death better than most adults and would one day run their family’s funeral home.On that Halloween, the three Ghastlies went trick or treating together. Douglas dressed up in as what he was fearing the most at the time, the grim reaper. While they were trick-or-treating, Doug noticed the killer roaming the streets, he remembered the attire immediately. Seeing looking for a new victim, the Ghastlies decided to stalk the Day Killer all the way back to an abandoned house in town infamously named ‘Death House’. This did not very go well; Audrey had got kidnapped and the kids ran away from the killer in realising their friend was gone. When Douglas heard the screams of Audrey, ran towards the killer even though he was out of breath, and tackled him to the ground for the girl to escape; she did no such thing as she was bleeding from a knife cut. As he was about to get hurt, Audrey tackled the cloaked figure and shouted “a D” towards Douglas, hinting to the killer. Audrey told him to run, and he did, back to the graveyard. A place he was familiar with. However, the murderer began following behind him screaming “sick of sun” from afar. While hiding from the murderer with Lowell, Douglas begun putting together certain words on gravestones, what Audrey had said to him, and what the killer said himself, Douglas found out the third victim was supposed to be him and that the initials weren’t the days of the week at all. They were meant to be for family relationships (daughter, son, mother, father…). He wasn't saying "sick of sun" but "second son". The "S" wasn't meant for the pumpkin, but for Douglas.Douglas accidentally ended up killing the murderer, by tossing him into an open gravesite, with a piece of heavy machinery the grave diggers call Daisy. After his death, the public celebrated and begun calling the serial killer the "Family Man". They also gave Douglas too much attention, making him a hero and saying he killed the monster. The murderer. He just fell in a hole. For all his life, he has adorn wearing suits and ties (even knowing the knots), even at school. However, as he turned 15, Douglas decided to hang up the suit & tie and only where it for funeral services.
